Welcome a piece of untouched nature into your home. Yakishime is a traditional Japanese ceramic technique where unglazed clay is fired at extremely high temperatures. Instead of applied glazes, the kiln itself becomes the artist. Over several days of firing, falling wood ash melts onto the vessel, creating a breathtaking natural glass coating, while the flames leave deep, organic scorch marks.
The Story of This Piece: The Land of Echizen & The "Ohaguro-tsubo"
This beautiful Kotsubo (small pot) is born from the earth of Echizen, one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns. Its silhouette carries a profound cultural resonance, paying homage to the traditional Ohaguro-tsubo—historical vessels once used to store the iron-based dye for the ancient Japanese practice of teeth blackening. Today, this stout, charmingly rustic form serves as an exquisite accent piece or a vessel for small, delicate floral arrangements.
The Artist's Vision: The beauty of this piece lies in its meticulous contrasts, as described by the creator:
"The olive green glaze highlights the raw texture of Echizen wood, while the burnished base adds depth to the design. The shape is inspired by Echizen's traditional 'Ohaguro-tsubo' style."

■高温焼成作品についてのご注意
この作品は1,300℃以上の穴窯で焼成されています。穴窯では、降り積もった灰が溶けてビードル状になり、表面に焦げや赤みがかった景色が現れます。これらの色の変化こそ、穴窯薪焼きの醍醐味です。
この作品はふるいにかけていない粗い土から作られているため、粒子の大きさが均一でなく小石が多く含まれており、水漏れが生じることがあります。そのため、花器は焼成後に防水処理を施した上で約1週間水を張り、茶碗・ぐい呑・徳利は一昼夜水に浸して水漏れのないことを確認しています。ただし、使用中に再び水漏れが生じる可能性があります。万が一水漏れが続く場合は、漏れている箇所に瞬間接着剤をお塗りください。
